The challenge
With 3,800 staff, 179 stations, and over half a million passengers daily, Southeastern faces constant pressure to manage disruption with speed. The organisation needed to strengthen internal collaboration and ensure staff across departments could work as a team — especially during unexpected events.
Our approach
Our task was to create a reality-style documentary that gave employees a candid look at how disruption is managed from multiple perspectives, without preaching or scripting. The goal was cultural: to instill a sense of teamwork, respect and accountability across the network.
Our solution
We designed the programme around a job swap format. Most staff had never experienced life outside their specific roles. Drivers knew little of the control centre, conductors rarely saw how platform teams operated. By immersing staff in each other’s worlds, the film fostered empathy and broke down barriers.
Filming on the front Line
Shot in live stations and control rooms, the documentary required close coordination with Southeastern’s Operations team. Earning trust from staff was crucial, especially in high-pressure environments.
The result
The completed documentary now features on Southeastern’s homepage and internal channels. Delivered in partnership with Blackbridge, the film highlights the pride, dedication, and human stories behind the network.
