Moving Cities North East
Wind & Foster produced Moving Cities North East, a multimedia exhibition celebrating the North East region as one. Set against industrial and urban backdrops, the project pulled dance, architecture, and community together for a national touring exhibition.
Twenty Portraits
Each large-scale image was designed to choreograph dancers within the North East’s industrial heritage. The final images are collection of still life’s and allegro phrases, capturing the relationship between past and present.
From exhibition to legacy
The work premiered at Dance City, Newcastle, before touring galleries in and around the UK. It later returned to Dance City as a permanent display, ensuring the project’s impact extended beyond the exhibition.
A collaboration across disciplines
This project brought together dancers, photographers, and urban spaces, demonstrating how movement and place interact. Working closely with regional artists, we created visuals that showcased not just performances, but the essence of culture in the North East.
Partnership
Moving Art Management, Dance City and Arts Council England co-produced the project, bringing deep regional knowledge, producing expertise, and a passion for dance. Our team championed local talent and connected communities through creative programming, fundraising, and mentorship.
